Intentions

Lately as I've been watching the News, reading the paper, and have been out and about I've been seeing examples of people trying to point out the differences of other people, and it has really started me thinking about the reasoning behind their actions, and intent.  When it comes down to it  I believe that collectively we are all so much more alike than different!    I believe that in a physical sense there are differences of course, but why have we become so superficial, in the sense that we feel so free to point out the supposed abnormalities of others?  I mean we are surrounded by tall people, and short people there are thin, and not so thin people there are a variety of races, and ethnicity's to say nothing about socioeconomic and life style choices, how did we get to a point where we feel so free in judging the people around us in such a superficial sense?  Character, and actions speak volumes about who people are, in my experience taking a moment and actually having a conversation can lead to amazing experiences both in educating yourself with another persons  experience, or simply put, making a new friend.  A number of years ago I was waiting for a train in Munich for Venice, it had been my first time in Munich and while I was there I was curious about the effects of WWII so I explored the city looking for sites I'd read about and in truth found very little. I found myself curious as to why it was so difficult to find sites ( after all in the states we will place a plaque to commemorate almost anything) so while waiting for the train I went to a cafe in the station for coffee, all of the tables were full, but I saw a woman over by the side sitting alone so I went over and asked if I could join her, she invited my to sit down and we started to talk.  In  time asked her why it was so difficult to find various sites I'd read about, and after she explained to me that it was a period most choose to forget ( which I should have known or at least considered) she told me of her experience, watching the SS come into her home and kill here entire family, and what it was like from her point of view living through, and recovering from the war..  I will remember this woman for the rest of my life and the fact that she was so willing to share Her experience with me truly touched my heart!  My point  is this; Be respectful, and tolerant of the people you cross paths with on a day to day basis, you never know where a simple hello will take you, and ultimately you are so much better for the experience!

  1. This is a good blog. We often get so wrapped up in ourselves or what we go through that we never take a moment to think about the next person's joys or pains. I agree with you that every one has a lesson to teach us, but we can only learn it if we're open to hear it.
